About the Journal

Aims and Scope
Education and Development aims to act as a reputable scholarly platform for publishing high-quality research and critical analysis in education across various levels and contexts. The journal features original empirical studies, theoretical and conceptual papers, and review articles on key topics such as education policy and governance, educational planning and management, curriculum and pedagogy, assessment and evaluation, teacher education and professional development, and informal and lifelong learning. By encouraging diverse methodological and theoretical approaches, the journal strives to generate knowledge that informs educational practices, supports evidence-based policy-making, and fosters innovation with a special focus on social transformation through educational development.

Publication Frequency
'Education and Development' is published biannually in January and July, with occasional special issues.

Editorial Policy
Editorial Roles and Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of scholarly integrity, making decisions solely based on academic merit, relevance, and quality. They oversee a fair, transparent, and timely peer review process; maintain professional communication with authors and reviewers; and collaborate with the editorial board and publisher to uphold and strengthen the journal’s academic reputation.
Editorial Ethics
Editors and the ethical board must act independently, avoid bias, and uphold confidentiality in all editorial decisions. They are required to declare and manage personal, financial, or institutional conflicts of interest. Editors ensure compliance with ethical standards for authorship, originality, citation, and research integrity and monitor and address plagiarism, redundant publication, or citation manipulation. All editorial actions must be professional, constructive, respectful, and compliant with copyright, open-access, and licensing regulations.
Peer Review and Manuscript Handling
Manuscripts are evaluated based on scholarly merit and alignment with the journal’s aims and scope. Peer review follows double-blind policies and involves at least two independent reviewers. Editors ensure that all review processes are confidential, transparent, and auditable and that reviewers are provided with clear guidance aligned with COPE standards.
Editorial Board and Journal Management Cell
The Research Management Cell (RMC) appoints editors and reviewers and maintains a competent, diverse, and engaged Editorial Board. It provides mentorship, ensures regular communication, and periodically reviews board membership to maintain expertise and active participation in the journal’s strategic objectives.
Competing Interests
Editors, authors, and reviewers must disclose all potential conflicts of interest. Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which a conflict exists, and such submissions are reassigned to qualified editors to ensure impartial evaluation.
Post-Publication Policies
Articles may be retracted in case of serious errors, misconduct, plagiarism, or ethical violations, with a clear explanation linked to the original article. Similarly, authorship changes after submission require written consent from all authors and must comply with ethical standards. Authors are encouraged to archive underlying research data and provide data availability statements to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and verification of results.
Editorial Rights
The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s aims and scope; do not follow the given guidelines; contain methodological, analytical, or ethical flaws; lack a significant contribution to the field; and are plagiarized or previously published.

Open Access Policy
Education and Development is a fully open-access journal that provides immediate and unrestricted access to all published articles. The journal is committed to the free global dissemination of scholarly knowledge and does not impose any financial, legal, or technical barriers to access. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–Non-Commercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), which permits non-commercial use, sharing, adaptation, and distribution of the work, provided that proper attribution is given to the author(s) and the source.

Sources of Support and Sponsorship
The Research Centre publishes 'Education and Development' for the Centre for Educational Innovation and Development (CERID), Tribhuvan University, Nepal. CERID provides institutional, administrative, and financial support while ensuring complete editorial independence.

Article Processing Charge (APC)
The journal charges no submission or publication fees and follows a strictly non-commercial policy without advertising or external sponsorship.

Archiving and Repository
To ensure a long-term digital repository and continued accessibility, Education and Development participates in internationally recognized archiving systems, including LOCKSS and CLOCKSS.
